Coach Chen was a former Zhejiang province professional swimming team member and got several championships in a National district swimming competitions for 50 meter and 100meter Freestyle. He, as a Chinese swimming team member, got championship in 100 meter Freestyle in the international swimming competition hosted in Hong Kong in 1985. He also was championships in professional group in National University Sport Competition and also a national record holder.
